No Objective Testing For Matters Of The Mind

Psychology is a very subjective science, having no true way of measuring mental conditions, Psychologist work with patient’s report of their symptoms and comorbidities. People place way too much trust in the medical system for their health and wellbeing and refuse to understand that a lot of what ails them, they are responsible for. Psychology as a profession was laughed at in the early years, it has recently been given some merit, but they still fail to provide a solid understanding of the human mind and spirit. Ever since pharmaceuticals have taken the world by storm, more and more conditions and diagnoses have been created, but people fail to understand that just because a man or woman wears a white coat it should not give them some sort of authority over your autonomy and well-being. They still put one pant leg at a time, make mistakes and nothing they say including their diagnostics tools is bulletproof.

So what does that tell us, as a consumer we must be well educated, and get several opinions before going on a regimen based on the advice of another human? I am specifically talking about trans medicine. I have always said that gender dysphoria is really not measurable, it is a very subjective feeling, and although it can be very crippling for some, the truth of the matter is no one can give you a definite bulletproof diagnosis. So when I hear many detransitioners wanting to be compensated and blame their health care provider for transitioning them, I can only express this: You were not forced into transition, you said the things they are taught to look for, based on other people reporting and the limited information they have on the condition. Trans medicine is very new and is still in the infant stage. If you went to a therapist to get your letter for hormones and surgery, do not expect a gender specialist, who obviously is new at the game, all of them are, because there is not enough research or science to back it up, you don’t have the right to blame them or the medical staff that performed the said procedures for transitioning.

What I am seeing here are individuals who have deeper issues than gender dysphoria, issues that are not to be diagnosed by gender specialists, they are there to deal with gender issues and to make the transition a smooth process, and definitely not to take on other comorbidities, they are not qualified to do so. I suggest people seek out a psychiatrist before seeing their gender specialist. The pattern I am noticing from many detransitioners is that they are trying to get compensated for what they believe was done to them, instead of understanding that they did it to themselves. Until people understand the science behind transition, the fact that it is based on subjective and self-reporting and not on hard science, that most people transition to improve their quality of life, and hope to find relief from their dysphoria, the less unhappy consumers there will be. Transitioning is no different than going to a cosmetic surgeon to get a facelift or nose job, understanding this should put to rest the notion that something was done to them when in fact they did it to themselves.

I am grateful for trans medicine, and although it will not solve all your problems, nothing in life is that powerful, it will grant you some peace and relief from your dysphoria if, in fact, you are Trans. I also see the witch hunt that is taking place just because a few unhappy consumers are trying to vilify the medical industry and are creating a massive stir amongst mothers who refuse to let their daughters go, Christians who are bent on using detransitioners as an example, and pawns for their cause, and just obsessive people who have a platform and know that this anti-trans narrative will give them the status that they hunger for. In the end, no one is really listening or caring, they are using children as shields to push their hateful rhetoric and creating fear-mongering at best.
