Trans Men How Is Your T?

How many trans guys have adapted their T use after hysterectomy, or after being on T for over 10 years? I just read that a trans guy who has been on T for 20 years reports not being able to bring his BP down even on the highest dose of BP meds possible.

He claims his doctor put him on high doses because he was overweight. The doctor lowered his dose by 25%, so now he is on 150 mg. His doctor is giving him a dose that bio men’s HRT regimen calls for, which is way too high for an FTM.

Mind you this FTM has had all sorts of medical problems and I believe he is heading for trouble. After one has had a hysterectomy and is above 50 years of age and have been on T for at least 10 years, there is no need to be on HRT any longer, especially if all your changes have taken place.

  1. That’s why good doctors constantly want blood panels done. To make sure our T levels are normal, as well as our other bodily stuff, like cholesterol, blood sugars, etc. And if they don’t, as much as we don’t like paying for lab tests, get them done!

    • Charlie, I wish I can agree with you on the good doctor bit, frankly, I believe we have been a science project at best. Many people in the medical industry are shooting at the hip and not really knowing what they are doing. After all, this hormone therapy, and not just for trans people is relatively a new science. The body is meant to regulate its own hormone production, and as the great system that it is, it does a pretty good job of it, if we stay out of its way. Synthetics are not at all the same, and cannot produce the ever-changing need and cycling our own body does.

Although Docs try, through the years, I have seen many trans guys fall ill as well as trans women due to hormone use. Everyone has to make their own decision as to continue it or stop after we have achieved our changes. That is a personal choice, but we must be able to understand what happens to the body and how it affects us. Lab tests are great, but they don’t always reveal everything, we are not a computer that you can run a diagnostic test and find concrete answers. I have watched people get false negative on tests, and die the next day. That is why they say practicing medicine, is a crapshoot. Thanks for your comment.
